About this facility
A wood recycling facility takes clean wood waste and processes it into mulch, boiler fuel, animal bedding, compost feedstock or engineered-wood inputs. Contractors, tree services, pallet companies and haulers bring pallets, crates, lumber cut-offs, logs, brush and stumps, which are ground in a horizontal grinder or tub grinder and screened. Painted, treated or engineered wood is usually refused or handled separately because of contaminants. Tipping is typically charged by the ton or cubic yard, and many sites sell the finished mulch back to the public. Hours, fees and accepted materials vary — call ahead to confirm whether treated lumber, stumps or mixed loads are accepted and what the current tipping fee is.
